Scott County Community Foundation

The 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship application is now available for all residents of Scott County who will graduate from either Austin or Scottsburg high schools by the end of June 2021. The scholarship program is available through the Scott County Community Foundation. All applications must be submitted online. The link to the application can be found in the Scholarships and Grants menu (Scholarships sub-menu) on the Community Foundation’s website, scottcountyfoundation.org

The online portion of the application will be due on Friday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. Applicants will then be required to write and submit two essays in person at their choice of Austin or Scottsburg high schools, with the date to be determined. Students will receive one writing prompt in advance, and one extemporaneous topic will be given during the night of the essay. Students may attend either session to write their essays regardless of where they attend school.

The Community Foundation is also hoping to host a workshop to explain the FAFSA and scholarship application process. More information will be provided as the schools continue finalizing back-to-school plans.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship program provides full tuition, required fees and a special stipend of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment for four years of undergraduate study at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Thirty-nine local students have been named recipients since the program started in Scott County in 1998.
