An Open Letter to Our Schneck Community from our CEO, Dr. Eric Fish
To show our commitment to you—our community and patients—we at Schneck feel it is important to be fully transparent, in the good times and the not so good times. While there is so much good to celebrate and be thankful for, we also face challenges as a hospital that are out of our control and may negatively impact our community.
We have been in ongoing negotiations with Anthem, a national health insurance plan, which has the potential to be one of these more challenging instances. Yet, it is in tough times that we are reminded that we truly are stronger together, which is why we remain committed to doing our part to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that protects the quality care we deliver to you every day.
On September 2, 2020, Schneck Medical Center received a formal notice of termination from Anthem to end our current contract. However, we believe that our patients – Anthem’s members – should be able to depend on uninterrupted in-network access to vital medical care, especially during a pandemic.
It is important to know that for now, nothing changes for you. You can and should continue visiting Schneck for your healthcare needs. If we cannot reach an agreement by March 1, 2021, we will be considered out of network with Anthem, which may result in higher out-of-pocket expenses when visiting your trusted Schneck providers for care.
To ensure we do our part to protect your in-network access to care, Schneck Medical Center stands ready to fight for what is fair for our patients who have deep, long-standing relationships with our entire healthcare team. Knowing how important access to safe and quality care is, call your employer and share what it means to have in-network access to Schneck for you and your family.
