The infection fatality rate (IFR) for COVID-19 has been around 1%. That means 99% survive, not 99.9%. That may not seem like a significant difference. But consider if a third of the US population contracted the virus (100 Million people). A 0.1% IFR means a 100 thousand Americans dying vs. a 1% IFR resulting in 1 MILLION Americans dying. Huge difference.
